Officially, the Grimace shake is described as a berry-flavored milkshake. But this official taste tester finds something a little closer to home in taste: Trix. Yes, the cereal that's just for kids that the pesky rabbit never could spoon up for himself.
Here's a reminder of what you find in Trix: flavors of raspberry, lemon, orange, wildberry blue, grape, and watermelon. So the Grimace shake sharing those berry flavors isn't too far off.
Grimace Shake Dupe Recipe
There's more than one way to make a Grimace shake dupe, but this is the one, after several attempts, that did the job and did it perfectly. This makes approximately one serving.
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- ½ cup Trix cereal
- ½ cup milk
- 2 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1½ cups black raspberry ice cream
- ½ tablespoon strawberry syrup
- Red and blue food coloring
- Whipped cream for garnish, optional
Instructions
- In a blender, add frozen blueberries, cereal, and milk.
- Blend until totally smooth.
- Add ice cream and strawberry syrup.
- Add 5 drops of red food coloring and 3 drops of blue, or follow the directions on the box using only half the amount for dying one dozen eggs purple.
- Blend until smooth or desired consistency.
- Pour into a Collins or highball glass.
- Garnish with whipped cream, if desired.
If you want to make this an adult experience, consider adding an ounce or so of vanilla vodka, blueberry vodka, or watermelon vodka.
